Bath time=Quiet time

So bath time around here is surprisingly pleasant. We started giving Guillermo showers because it is just easier to shower him at the same time as Francisco is showering...and he loves it! He almost fell asleep in the shower last night. It must be soothing to him...like a little massage:) Also, the water hit him in the face a few times and he just brushed it off like it was nothing:) It makes me want to give him a bath all the time!

7 weeks old

Where have these past 7 weeks gone? It's crazy to think your life can change so quickly. The Lord has really pressed upon my heart to make the most of the time he has given me. What that exactly means I have not a clue, but I want to dig more into the Word of God to find out.

It was interesting and true, someone said to me recently that it is really too bad because it is hard to enjoy this stage in your baby's life because you are always running on a lack of sleep. Very true, but as Guillermo sleeps on the couch next to me and I hear is precious snore and I look at his tiny body growing and his features becoming more prominent...I refuse to not enjoy this time, I desire to make the most of it because I know it will pass by quickly. Thank you Jesus for this precious creation. Thank you friends for sharing in this time with Francisco and I.

His wink..this is one of my favorite faces he makes.

Thankful

This year was Guillermo's first Thanksgiving and Francisco and I's second Thanksgiving being married:) Like always we enjoy our time spent with family. Wednesday night we decided to go up to my parent's house in Dubuque. Thursday my dad made a smashin' turkey and I tried to master tamale making, while my husband and my dad worked on stuff outside that needed to get done. Friday Francisco got work in Davenport and my parents and I put on Christmas lights on around the outside of their house. It was a beautiful day! Saturday we all headed to my grandparents house and Sunday we had a thanksgiving meal there with my relatives. We really enjoyed our time spent with everyone and look forward to seeing people again during Christmas time.

There are so many things I am thankful for...here are a few I would like to share with you:

I am thankful for....
1.) Jesus
2.) my husband and being married to him

3.) our son and being entrusted with his life
4.) our church and bible study
5.) community and friends
6.) being with family
7.) the opportunity to live an adventurous life
8.) my ESL students and friends
9.) food, home, clothes, and a bed:)
10.) the days I have to spend with my husband and Guillermo
11.) when Guillermo smiles and coos
12.) when Francisco and I share a laugh together
13.) work
14.) my grandma being healed from cancer and having the opportunity to meet Guillo
15.) the word of God
16.) love
17.) creation
18.) the ability to communicate with my husband (speak spanish)
19.) memories
20.) the opportunity to study the Bible with my husband and grow in our relationship with the Lord together.

Colicky?

Colicky? What? So I took Guillermo to the doctor today because he has been stuffed up and fussy. The doctor asked me a few questions, "Is he fussy during feedings?" Yup. "Does he have a lot of gas?" Sure does. "Is he a grunter?" "You mean all those cute little horse noises he makes are grunts?" Yup. "Is he smiling one minute and then angry the next?" Well, sure, but so am I:) She checked his ears, listened to his lungs, felt his hard belly, full of air that he can't quite push out and diagnosed him has a colicky baby. I would like to just believe he is stuffed up and unhappy for the time being. But according to this doctor his belly hurts him quite often and he will be colicky until about the age of 3 months. I was instructed not to have any dairy products because cows milk passes through breast milk and is maybe making his tummy upset and she gave us some gas medicine to try. We'll do our best and see what happens.
*Also some interesting facts that the doctor was sharing with me is that when his belly hurts he will feed because that is what he thinks makes his belly feel better, but then he just feels extra full. *Also if your baby spits up a lot, she said that is gastric reflux and if they spit up and are in pain (cranky) that is gastric reflux with heart burn. I just thought those two facts were worth sharing.

Nothing worse

Right now in my life (I'm sure this will change) there is nothing worse than not being able to get all the boogers and snot out of my son's nose. Hmmm....my life is interesting, eh? Anyway, his nose is clogged and I can't get it unclogged. He's such a good sport through the saline drops and the bulb suction. But, I feel like the poor thing struggles through his feedings because his nose is full.
To top it off, my other guy has a clogged nose too...but at least he can blow his nose:)
Anyway, thought I would share with you all what is keeping me up at night.

Fun Facts

Some fun facts about Guillo:

1.) He's a belly sleeper
2.) He loves to be held
3.) He is very alert
4.) He loves bath time (I'll have to post a picture to prove it...it is like he is in a hot tub, all relaxed and enjoying the moment.
5.) When he is hungry...he'll let you know until he is satisfied.
6.) He likes spending time on his changing table and getting his diaper changed.
7.) He peed all over himself the other night all the way up his chest. He has also shot himself in the eye with his pee before taking a bath. Not to mention that he has pooped up his back and I mean all the way up...we aren't talking a little mess this was major clean up duty. He has also peed on his dad a few times (even through his clothes.
8.) He has trouble falling asleep. And his dad has trouble listening to him cry himself to sleep.
9.) He is content with pretty much anyone.
10.) He likes his butt and back being patted until he sleeps.
11.) He is starting to discover his hand and sucking on the whole fist.

12.) He eats well...even takes a bottle, as long as there is milk coming out of it he is content.
13.) He doesn't like running errands with me.
14.) He doesn't like to sit in one place for too long, he wants to be up and moving.
15.) He likes the sound of the vacuum, washer and dryer.
16.) He likes to chew on Francisco's nose (I also need to post a picture for proof)
17.) He likes when Francisco holds him and dances around the house (seriously I would get motion sickness, but he loves it..even falls asleep to it.)
18.) When he has a full belly he thinks we are funny. (I hope this remains true as he gets older:)
19.) He already needs a haircut... Francisco is not too fond of these side burns.
20
.) And last, but not least, He loves to be with his dad.

6 weeks old!

Crazy! Another week has gone by. Guillermo is now 6 weeks old. He is definitely growing (although everyone says he's such a little squirt), he is talking a lot more...Making horse noises, cooing and definitely smiling more. In fact he smiles a ton and then I get the camera out and he all the sudden becomes serious. So I wish I had some more smile pica to share with you all, but he just won't pose:)

He's getting long!

Look who is happy to be 6 weeks old!

I love this picture...He followed me as I walked around to take it.

5 weeks

This last Friday (10th of November) Guillermo turned 5 weeks old. He's getting bigger. Still in his newborn clothes and newborn diapers, but he is getting more chunky in the face and interacting more...trying to coo and smile (but he definitely makes you work for a smile). It still is surreal...I feel like I am babysitting and I don't know when I will be returning him. I am just wondering when it will become more real that he is actually my son.

Grandma talks to him and he gets excited.

Sleepy head

For his 5th week birthday we got him his first cell phone. Just a joke...this is another one of Francisco's funny photos.

Some funny pics

So Francisco was laughing this morning because he went to check on Guillo and we he was sleeping exactly the same way as I was...you will see below...funny thing is he took Guillo's picture first because he thought he would move, but I ended up being the one to move as he was taking the picture....so you can't see exactly how I was sleeping, but you get the idea...we sleep alike:)

These pictures below crack me up...he looks like a little man just chillin'. Francisco likes to do funny things like this with him and the great part is Guillo enjoys every bit of it.

So Francisco made me remove this cute little bonnet because he said it makes Guillo look like a girl. Okay, so maybe he's right, but he looked so cute I had to take a picture.

SMILE

So, today is the first today Guillermo has smiled (at me atleast:) It was fun...I was getting him to smile quite a bit. Francisco said he smiled yesterday, but since I didn't see it...it doesn't count:) Anyway, here are the pictures to prove it.

Cousins

My sister and brother-in-law are visiting my parents (I should say working for the next 2 weeks). They are with athletes in action in Virginia and they are back here to fund raise. So, we get the pleasure of spending some time with them. Time is short and we have enjoyed being with them. Brighton is now 2 and a half and Caedmon is 7 weeks older than Guillermo...so we are enjoying using his clothes:)

The next three pictures of our nephew, Guillo's cousin Caedmon and Guillo. Caedmon is so sweet...very content and very solid/chunky...I love him. Guillermo looks pretty content with him as well, he must give off a vibe:)

One month old!!

Guillermo turned one month old this past Friday (November 3rd). It is crazy to think that I gave birth to him one month ago...it still all seems so surreal.
