Shan

Our friend Shan from China came to visit yesterday. It was so nice to get together with her. We have been friends for about 3 years now. She is not a believer. Her dad is Buddhist and her mom doesn't really believe in anything either. Please pray for her. She has such a beautiful heart. In fact we were talking about Christmas and she said she wasn't doing anything and her parents don't either...and that in China it's not really celebrated. But she did add how it is becoming more "popular" because more people are becoming Christians. Makes sense why would you celebrate if you didn't believe in Jesus? Although here in the States it's about the same thing....it has lost it's meaning for most people.

Check out the slippers she gave him...think they are a little big right now?

10 weeks, roses and a day with grandma

So Francisco brought me home roses the other day when he came home for lunch! How sweet.

We spent yesterday (Saturday) with grandma...we saw grandpa only for a few moments as he was working.

He loves his baths

Last, but not least he turned 10 weeks old last Friday (15th)

¡Viva México!

Thumbs up!

So I got the thumbs up from Francisco. Apparently my food passed the test. The best part was that he made no comment that there wasn't enough salt:) I did it!

*So I was so excited about my flautas that I tried to make homemade tortillas last night....they were horrible, they didn't even look like tortillas...then Francisco informed me that i was using tamale dough not tortilla dough....oh well I just skipped over that part. I guess you can't have too much success in one day:)

Flautas

Okay I am excited and I just have to share this with someone, so who better than my blogger buddies?!
Anyway, the Bible says the Lord gives us the desires of our heart and while this may seem cheesy to some people, I really believe the Lord has given me the desire to cook Mexican food...the way my husband likes it. He says it's not a big deal, but I think it is. I am a horrible cook when it comes to Mexican food. I'm not talking restaurant style....I am talking homemade tortillas, tamales, flautas, gorditas, and the Mexican rice. Especially now that Guillo is born I want him to experience that side of the Mexican culture because the food is great!

Anyway, my point here is that I have been getting real frustrated lately because when I try something new it just doesn't cut it. So today for lunch (Francisco is coming home from work to eat lunch) I decided to take on the challenge of flautas and Mexican rice. Last night one of my students said making flautas was easy so she explained it to me and I looked a recipe up and I did it! They actually look like the real deal. Not to mention the rice also looks great:)
The real test will be what my husband thinks!

***A very important side note, Guillermo slept the whole time...making it even more fun for me to enjoy my flauta success!

And now, thanks to my friend Emily...I am now posting pictures of food on my blog:)

Don't those flautas look smashin'?

**FYI: flautas in Spanish means flutes...so my flutes may be a little fat, but who wants to eat a skinny flute anyway?

Sleep!

Yes! I can see sleep in my near future. Guillermo rocked last night! He slept from 10:30pm until 3:30am! I was so excited. It kind of freaked me out and I kept going in to check on him to see that he was okay because I couldn't believe he was actually sleeping.

It was funny because we are so used to having to walk around with him and bounce him up and down at night to calm him down. So instead of putting him down last night when he cried Francisco bounced him up and down and he seriously fell asleep standing up....it's hard to explain, but if you would grab a baby from under their armpits and hold them in the air to talk to them that is how Guillermo was and fell asleep. It freaked us out, we thought something was wrong....but the poor guy was just so tired.
Then I thought about it and he had been up since 5:30pm until 10:30pm....he had gone to English class with me and he loves it so he never really sleeps there.
Okay I am totally rattling on..... I guess I am just so excited:)

So yes, I let him sleep on his belly...and yes his butt is stuck up in the air.

Flying high

Hey gramps this one's for you!
So mom and I got talking today after she dressed me and here is what our conversation went like....

Well, I got super excited when she mentioned that with this outfit I could be your co-pilot
Then, I thought nah ma you for real?
She said, "yeah I'm for real" so I told her to grab my jacket and put it on. Then I started to imagine what it would be like.
I put my hands out like I was flying
and then whoa I got a little freaked out. I think I might be afraid of heights.
Then it made me all happy thinking that someday I could maybe fly with my gramps.

***So yeah, this is what I do for fun now:) Anyway, Dad I thought you would enjoy it. Love ya!

Random

So here are some random pictures.

He looks like a little squirt in this bed all by himself.

He enjoys this little Christmas tree (just his size!) looking at the lights. Not sure why but he has this thing for lights:)

Too cute to pass this photo up! I always see him snuggled in his car seat and I think I will remember how cute he looks...but the other day I decided to trust in my camera more than my memory.

9 weeks old!

Okay here we go, another week has gone by! According to Francisco we don't talk in weeks, we talk in months....he gets confused:)
As you will see he went a little crazy (and so did I) with the picture taking.
It's funny because for some reason he loves the bathroom and his changing table! So I am getting smart....this is the time I take a shower, do my hair (which he loves to watch me to my hair....not sure why, but he gets to kickin' his feet and yelping), and even clean the bathroom. So it makes me smile because really the majority of the time he's a pretty serious guy (for now anyway....that could all change) so when I put him on the changing table it's like he lets loose. I love that time we have together.

Fun & Random Pictures

My little snuggle bug
Crack me a smile:)
Some of the ways his dad likes to carry him:).....

What baby smiles when you try getting boogers out of their nose? He does.

He likes to do house chores with me
YUM! Must have been a good lunch.
Poor Francisco he just finished showering too!
Check out his right hand. I think he puts it there just to make sure I don't go anywhere:)

2 months old!

Okay so I am exactly a week late with this one. Last Friday December 1st Guillermo turned 8 weeks old. I can't believe it has been 2 months already! I think last week we officially grew out of his newborn clothes. On Wednesday we went for his 2 month check up. He received 3 shots...so sad. He let out a little yelp and then with his face all red and teary eyed he looked at me like "what just happened?" The details: he now weighs 12 pounds 6 ounces and is 23 1/2 inches long. He is in the 75th percentile, which is a huge jump from his 2 week appointment when he was 50% for height and 35% for weight.
He is definitely cooing and smiling. In fact sometimes we just laugh because he smiles at the wall or the ceiling...he also has his friend, the lamp in the living room with whom he has daily conversations. In fact, we will be talking to him and he turns and stares and then begins a conversation with the light. Very interesting, but I guess whatever will do.

These ones are for you Em...I think after these pics he is growing to like the hat...
