34 weeks and growing

Okay, here I am at 34 weeks. Is it just me or do I look extra huge. I had a patient at the hospital ask me if I was expecting twins. I guess until I see a picture of myself I don't realize how pregnant I look:) Anyway, 6 more weeks to go. I know it will fly by! Please pray for me as I prepare to take my boards for nursing in about 2 weeks. I just really want to pass them and get a nursing job. But, like everything else in my life...it doesn't always work according to my plans:) But, I enjoy it. Life is good. Many times I am amazed at how blessed we are by the Lord.

Braxton-Hicks

So Francisco didn't have work last Thursday so we took off for a three day vacation to Dubuque to visit my parents. We had a nice relaxing time, except for the fact I didn't feel well and then to top it off I woke up about 3am one night because I was having horrible pain in my stomach. We called the on-call nurse with fear that maybe I was in pre-term labor (First timers...not real sure how everything feels). The nurse said to take a warm bath and tylenol and then if they did not go away in an hour to be seen at the ER. Well, it worked...we think they were just the braxton hicks contractions and around 8am we were able to go back to bed and get some rest. False alarm...thank the Lord because a pre-term labor is not in my plans (too many things to do before the bay is born:) Well, that's it for now. I am now 33 weeks...7 weeks left and counting down:)

17 inches and 4 pounds

I am now 32 weeks and according to resources our baby should be approximately 17 inches and a little over 4 pounds right now. So Francisco and I are visual people that is why you will find a ruler and some flour...just to give you all an idea of how big our baby should be right now. That's crazy! It seems too big and the date of birth is approaching too fast...PREPARE!

One Year and Nacho

We survived! Yesterday Francisco and I celebrated our one year anniversary. We woke up and I made him eggs and hash browns (one of his many favorites:) Then we went to IC Farmers market after that we went to the lake in Solon to grill some ribs YUM! Francisco did an awesome job of grilling them. That is after we arrived without lighter fluid and he had to go back into town to get it. We had some great food, went home and got ready and left for a little town called Fredonia about 50 minutes away from IC. That is where we went to a church called "vida abundante" and saw the famous Nacho Galindo. He once sang for a popular group called "Primavera", he left the group to sing for the Lord and let me tell you this was one of the best ways to spend our first anniversary. He has an amazing testimony (as do all believers) and it was a privilege to be able to see him in concert. As Francisco and I were talking, it is sweet how the Lord plans things (the little things as well). He has never been to a concert before and has wanted for a while to go to a Christian concert in Spanish..well, those aren't easy to find around here. So how better could the Lord have planned this concert than on our anniversary, plus Francisco was so excited because he was so famous before and he couldn't wait to go to this concert. Friday night, Francisco couldn't sleep because he was so excited for our anniversary (so he says, but it could have been the concert:) We have had a great year together, many blessings and I love him more than I did when I married him:) We had a great day together.

Our first anniversary picture before going to the concert.

Francisco grilling up his delicious ribs.

I ate them right to the bone. YUM!

Sleepless in Iowa City and Breastfeeding

So I am writing this post at 4am because I can't sleep (so please forgive me if I spell bad or don't make sense). I thought this for sure would not be a problem for me during my pregnancy due to the fact that I LOVE to sleep, but these last couple of nights it has been a challenge, then around 7am I am tired again. Maybe my body is just in training for when the baby is born and the odd hours I will be awake.
Anyway, Francisco and I went to a breastfeeding class last night from 6:30 until 9pm. Good information, but we were extremely bored! It was one of those classes that you could have used a few jokes or some more lively material, etc. Plus these old fashioned videos they show just don't help. We are hoping lamaze class will be a little more lively.
My doctor appt. went well yesterday, I haven't gained anything in the past 3 weeks...which was good, they said I was leveling out. My doctor thinks the scale was off last time, I think she's right:) Although she said I have only gained 21 pounds so far...which doesn't add up to the 24 another nurse told me 3 weeks ago...someone or something is off:) Oh well, I am not too concerned about the whole weight thing especially since I have a lot of fluid on board. Overall, I should be at 30 or 35 pounds she said. The baby is super active these days and sometimes I try and figure out what in the world it is doing in there, but I think that will be a mystery to me. Well, that's it for now! Hopefully I will be asleep in a few hours:)

Aire

Today was a good day, minus not feeling 100%. In the morning Francisco didn't have work, so he left on a mission. I went to sleep. When I woke up, he surprised me with air in my car! How sweet. I have been driving around without air condition because it broke and I just haven't made it a priority to get it fixed. Now, I can drive around with my windows rolled up, no sweat, and a little chilled. I love it!
Then, as I was sitting int he living room around noon the mailman knocked on my door. To my surprise I had a package in the mail! I haven't received a package in the mail for a long time. My friend Lindsay sent me a birthday gift (still celebrating:) I loved it...thanks Linds!
In the evening after Francisco arrived from work we put together the baby's bed (pictured below). Nice bed, did I mention what my mom paid for it? $40. I know I don't have to always share the price...but when it's nice stuff for little money I can't help it. I know I am 9 weeks out and that may seem like a lot, but I just want to be prepared. Plus, it's fun:)

G-ma and ma

Saturday my grandma and mom stopped by on their way through town. It was a nice visit and a good break from my day of cleaning (I feel like everything piles up after working all week). My grandma and I went and bought some ice cream to eat with the homemade peach pie my mom made the night before. We just hung out which is nice for a change. Here are some pics of us that day and also of Francisco when he came home from work to join us for a few minutes:) Good times!

My birhday still continues! It's always fun to celebrate after your birthday:)

The 3 of us, my mom, me and my grandma

He smelled so good after a long day at work that we just couldn't resist him!

He's a tropper...he smiled in every picture:)

30 weeks

Okay you all....Here I am 30 weeks going on 31. Really, I only have 9 1/2 weeks left...which means my sister only has 3 weeks left until she has her baby! I am sure some people think it can't go by fast enough, but really it is going by way too fast for me. I don't know if it has hit Francisco yet, but I really feel like the little life will be here before we know it. I have enjoyed pregnacy a lot and I am actually feeling kind of sad as I approach these last weeks. I know I will miss being pregnant (especially for the first time). Everything is so new and every little move or kick or growth is special. I decided to give you a view from each side this time...I'm not sure why...I guess just for the fun of it. It's kind of akward...I don't know what to dow tih my hands so I just put them on my belly:)
