3 weeks old

Yes...yet another week has passed, and so quickly. Yesterday Guillermo turned 3 weeks old.
I am bummed because whatever I had I gave to him and now he is a little sick. He has a sometimes stuffed up sometimes runny nose and a cough and plenty of sneezes. I just hope we both get a good nights rest. Other than that, he is growing way too fast and his hair is growing too!

Sad day

We're sad.
It's a beautiful day, the birds are chirping, the sun is out, but our favorite person left us today. Francisco went to Indiana until tomorrow morning to help a nephew dry wall his house. We wish he were here to share this lovely day with us and right now we are just trying to figure out what to do with our day. Maybe sleep a little, then go for a walk? Hmmm....any suggestions how a 3 week old and a 25 year old could spend their day?

Moreno Family update

So this last Tuesday (the 24th) Guillo had his 2 week check up. He was 18 days old, weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces with a height of 21 inches. He is in the 50 percentile for his height and 35 percentile for his weight. So he is growing:)

Tuesday night Francisco and I decided to go visit my parents and Wednesday we went to my mom's school to share Guillo with everyone.
GuilloÂ’s umbilical cord finally fell off and he had his first real bathÂ…so nice to wash those little buns:)

Then, Wednesday night we went on our first date night since Guillo has been born. The funny thing is we couldn't decide where we wanted to go and we weren't extremely motivated to go...but we ended up going to the mall to buy caramelel apple and then we went to the river and walked around. Then, to top the night off we went to K-mart to buy diapers:) We enjoyeeach otherer, but I ended up getting sick. So now I wear a mask while breastfeeding so Guillo won't get what I have. It's a funny sight:)

We are both resting (Guillo and I) while Francisco is working...praise the Lord! Work for Francisco is usually slow during this time, but the Lord has always been gracious to take care of us.

Here is a picture of Francisco having a little too much fun being a dad:) We went to run errands while it was raining....guess how many looks we got carrying this umbrella around??

Feet update

Ange this one's for you.....

Before Guillo

After Guillo

*Surprisingly they are still a little swollen because I still can't get into my shoes that well. But, good improvement, eh? I can walk again! Oh yeah, and no more indents in my feet when I sit on them. I am so glad that I took photos because I quickly forgot how huge they were:) It was worth it all and I would do it all over again times 100. Actually, what's amazing to me is the fact that your body can handle all the changes and then bounce back in a week.

More pictures

Here are some photos from the week. Francisco says I am too camera happy.

These two are so precious:) I love them.

Me and my Guillo

He loves to rest his face on his hands...it's so sweet.

Off to Wal-mart

Our little guy slept 5 hours straight the other night! YEAH!

Can you say Pampers? Francisco is emptying our diaper genie:)

Baby Dedication

Sunday our little Guillo was dedicated at church. I felt kind of overwhelmed at the time when we were in front because I realized this little life will one day make a decision to walk with the Lord or not. I pray we can be good examples to him and raise him in the ways of the Lord. Just a side note...our little guy is vocal and up in front of everyone he let 'er rip...more than once. Just like his father:)

Just the 3 of us:)

He had a long day

My mom and I celebrated with banana boats

And the guys...they just slept

1 week old

Here's our guy, now 1 week old today.

So I often just stare at him throughout the day and just think, "who am I to have received this blessing from the Lord?" I have shed my fair share of tears because of the overwhelming feeling I have of being a mother. I was just learning how to be a wife and now I am learning how to be a mother. Sometimes it seems to be a task far to great, but I know the Lord will guide me and sustain me.
It is just one of the most amazing feelings when you look at a baby that the Lord has used you and the person you love most to create. It is still all so surreal. Thank you Jesus.

My guys

Here are my two favorite guys:

This is Guillo's favorite place to be:)

Francisco loves the little teddy bear. I think he is spoiled already.

Francisco had to return to work today. We are sad and a little bored..he does a good job entertaining us. Here they are this morning before he left. We love him:)

He has arrived!

Yup, it's a boy! Friday night October 6th at 8:15pm Guillermo (pronounced Gee-yer-mo, with a hard "g") Emanuel Moreno was born weighing 7 pounds 12 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. We are amazed that the Lord has entrusted us with this precious life and we are also still in the
"is this really our son?" phase.
Below is a picture of him 5 mins after birth. He had a pneumothorax (collapsed lung) they took him to the ICU and we were unable to really bond with him until Monday. So we have had a lot of catching up to do:)
They said he was a little stinker. He would take his oxygen prongs out of his nose and put them in his mouth:)
Here I am holding him for the first time since birth. It was hard with all the cords, but it was still fulfilling. Check out his little hand curled up to his face...this is the way he likes to fall asleep, especially while he is feeding...I love it.
Here he is with his grandparents for the first time on Sunday
He is a proud dad. And I am proud to be his wife. I can't even begin to describe how much he has helped, I truly don't know how single moms do it...dads are SO IMPORTANT!
Look at this face...I would do it all over in a heartbeat.
Finally we get to go home! We were able to go home on Tuesday morning. Thanks grandma and grandpa for the new carseat...I already enjoy having my dad carry me around so I can sleep:)

God is gracious

So here are my lovely Latin friends:) I love them and everytime I see them I think, "Lord, you are gracious." These women come to ESL class and I can truly call each one of them my friend. What a sweet blessing the Lord has given me through this ministry and I pray they each find Jesus someday. This picture was taken at my surprise baby shower they threw for me. They always make me feel special and loved. Why is it when we love because Jesus loves us and we give because Jesus has given to us, that we get double in return, we get more in return than what we can ever dish out? I love serving Jesus.

Announcements

Aren't these boys the cutest? Okay I know we all say that about the little children we love, but these boys definitely top the list:)
Now I have to brag on my sis and brother-in-law for a minute. These look professional, but they totally did them on their own. They are awesome! The right side cut off is due to my bad scanning job. I am pretty impressed and rather proud of their hidden talent:)
Just wanted to share these with you all!

That's just wrong!

So, I had another doctor appointment today and we were discussing the mucous plug and just so everyone is informed (unlike I was) it means absolutely nothing. All the magazines, books, etc. say you will be in labor in a day or two....well I lost mine on Sunday and I am still sitting here swelling:) Anyway, the doc says books say that, but it's not accurate. Errr. That's just wrong.

For anyone who cares, I am 2cm dilated and 60% effaced and she stripped my membranes (OUCH!) and she's on call tomorrow and she told me she wants me to shoot for tomorrow. Please pray for us that is does happen tomorrow....I really want her to deliver my baby, she has been the one seeing me throughout the whole pregnancy so I feel she knows me best and what I want and she also just seems confident in what she does. It would just make the birth a little more comfortable knowing the doc.
I'll keep you all posted!

39 weeks and still goin'

Okay so here I am from both sides. By the way no one told me I was going to grow out of my maternity clothes...thanks to the bella band (the black thing you see under my shirt) I can wear clothes without showing my belly....and believe me it's for the better:) Anyway, maybe in this picture you can tell my swollen face too! I think I have a triple chin last time I counted. Please pray that this baby comes soon....we are so excited to meet the little guy or gal.

This one's for you Nichole and Tom:)

The feet together and the feet separate. I thought I would just give you more pics to chuckle at sis:)

I know you are wondering where are my ankles? I am not sure...in fact I forget what my feet looked like before I was pregnant. By the way these look pretty good. This is what happened just by making lunch. I call them elephant feet. The funny part is I tried to make them look "pretty" by giving myself a french pedicure. It didn't help, as you can see.
And...here are my man hands. my wedding ring actually doesn't go that far down comfortably as you can see the tip of my finger is kind of red...I forced it down a little:)

So, who said pregnant ladies are cute? Oh well, I give up on the cuteness I just want this baby to come so I can start seeing my body again!

Banana boats, gender and carseats

So Francisco taught me how to make banana boats tonight! They are amazingly delicious. He went camping with our friend Wayne and some of the kids they minister to and they ate these. YUM! So, if you are like me and have never eaten them before this is what you do....cut one side of the banana peel down so it takes the shape of a boat...then scoop out with a spoon to make it sort of deep...eat the banana you are scooping out. Then, on top of the banana place chocolate and marshmallows then close the peel over top. In this case we just put it in the microwave. Now, these come really close to being better than 'smores...in fact I think they tie for being the best camp food. I know I didn't explain making them too well...if all else fails just throw a banana, chocolate and marshmallows together and melt them it tastes the same.

So for my second topic...all through pregnancy I have had strange dreams about our baby and everytime our baby has been a boy...so I just have to make the announcement now before the baby is born...so if it is a boy...crazy!

For my third topic...who would think buying carseats would be so dang difficult? Do you get a 3 point harness or a 5 point harness? Do you get a carseat that changes with each stage so you don't have to buy more than one carseat? Do you get a carseat that has a matching stroller it can fit into? Do you just buy a cheap carseat and worry about the stroller later? What brand holds up the best? Does any of this really matter? Francisco and I went on our third attempt to buy a carseat today and we came out with nothing! We got so frustrated because we just don't want to spend so much money on a carseat. Francisco claims we will just walk home from the hospital and worry about it later. He's funny. Anyway, just thought I would share that buying a carseat is not an easy thing...atleast not for Francisco and I:)

Mucus Plug

Yeah, I know I hate that word too. Anyway, this is what excites me nowadays....pretty sad, huh? About 1:30 pm today I passed my mucus plug so maybe sooner than later I will have this baby. I did take a picture of it, but for everyone else's sake I will not post it:) I was so excited to see it that I couldn't help myself. Francisco thought I was a little wack, but I guess that's just what happens when I want my feet back to normal:)
Anyway, I will keep everyone updated. They say that labor MAY start a day or two after this plug has passed....but I'm not getting my hopes up yet:) Until then....please pray (for a fast delivery:) Love ya all!
